Photograph of Ayun Musa or the Spring of Moses in Jordan. The fresh water spring near Petra is one of several sites that are reputedly the land where Moses performed a miracle as he struck a rock to bring forth water for the Israelites as told in the Book of Exodus in the bible. The cave and spring create a wet and fertile oasis in the dry western Jordanian hills. Moses’ Spring is not far from Mount Nebo or Jebel Musa in Jordan, another sacred biblical site that is reputed as the burial place for the prophet Moses.
